Steps to Spiritual Renewal

Just as there are many misconceptions when trying to learn a new language, so too, many of us have some misconceptions about the Bible. Here are three that come to mind: It’s too confusing to read, it’s too boring to study, it’s impossible to apply. Listen to see how God brought renewal to his people through the word of God.

Loving God His Word and His People

This final message examines how the author of Psalm 40 fulfills love for God, his word and his people by speaking God’s truth to all the people. This is the final message in the core values series. We encourage all church members and visitors who want to do ministry with us at UBC to listen to this series.

The Return of Christ: The Foundation of Our Hope

Paul had a message for the Thessalonian church: All their past hope, present hope, and future hope are in Christ alone. But this great hope is not for them only but for us too. The hope they have in Jesus Christ is the same hope we have today: That one day he will return for us. He has not forgotten us.

We apologize for the absence of an audio file for this sermon.

Evangelism to the Lost

A day is coming in which the Lord will return for his people. At that time we will celebrate with those who have received the truth or we will be discovered in our shameful silence. Remember, Christ has given us power and authority in His commission.

How to Stop Strife

It’s much easier to conquer and subdue an enemy who attacks us than it is to forgive and restore a friend who hurts us.

Prayer for One Another

The purpose of prayer is to submit our whole being to the mind and will of God. Pray for/with a different person each day for the next week that they would be: Refreshed in the spirit, full of Joy, filled with wisdom of God's will and spiritual understanding, able to withstand the attacks of the enemy, resist sin walking in the Spirit, and never alone in their spiritual battle.

Defeating Discouragement

When you’re down, turn your attention from your discouragement to the One who is able to do something about it. God has been faithful to you in the past. He is faithful to you today. And He has promised to be faithful to you in the future. Remember the Lord. Remember His promises. Remember His goodness. Remember His power. Our God is great and awesome! Remember Him.

Working Well With Others

If God’s work is going to get done, we’re called to cooperate with one another, not to compare or criticize. We must keep the main thing by never forgetting that God’s glory is at stake. And, we won’t all give equally, but we can all make equal sacrifices. Remember that nothing has ever been done for God without hard work.

Support of World-Wide Missions: Sending in a Manner Worthy of God

The goal of missions is to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name’s sake. Therefore, we are to send missionaries in a manner worthy of God because they go out “for his name's sake”.

Supporting mission work in Uijongbu Baptist Church must not be done in a shoddy haphazard way. Rather, it must be done in a way that is worthy of God, lifting high his very name.

A Walk Pleasing to the Lord: The Labor of Gospel Transformation

The Gospel is the Good News of Jesus Christ, who he is and what he has done. By the Gospel, God the Trinity begins to create new life in believers while bringing them into the loving community of God. New Covenant Life and Community Transformation are the Work of the Trinity.

Outreach to Community: Establishing the Rule of God

The goal of outreach is not to make new friends, feed the hungry, or give to the poor, but to destroy altars, strongholds, and false gods. The goal of outreach is to establish the rule of God in the hearts of the people of the land and make his grace and mercies known. Can we do this by ministering to the hungry, the poor and the homeless? Yes, of course we can, but let’s not make the fatal error of that being the goal. Our outreach must seek the pulling down of strongholds (II Corinthians 10:4).

How to Tackle a Tough Job

Nehemiah did not rely on his resume when it was Time to Build. He got out his tools so that he could handle the tasks ahead of him. In chapter 2 verses 1-10, we’ll see that he had at least 5 tools in his toolbox.

Knowing How to Pray

This morning we’re kicking off a series based on the book of Nehemiah that we’re calling, “A Time to Build.” Nehemiah is one of the great characters of the Old Testament, but perhaps not as well known as some others. I’m excited about what God is going to teach us as we travel through this book. We’re going to learn things that will help us personally, we’ll discover principles that will guide us as we move into a time of building here at UBC, and we’ll end up understanding a critical part of Old Testament history.

Growth Through Discipleship: A Gospel Love Response

Discipleship serves several purposes. It perfects us in doctrine and prepares us for ministry. It establishes our faith so that we are unshakable, able to withstand even the worst life can throw at us; but it is also a work of community. Discipleship brings peace to community when it is established and built up on the doctrines of Christ.

Worship

Worship is one of the most important acts of discipleship that all Christ followers are invited into. And so, one of the defining characteristics of Christians is that they are genuinely glad to go to the house of the Lord to worship. When we worship in His Presence, we are sharpening our lives to live the lives that God has called us, and in Christ, has redeemed us, in through the Holy Spirit, has empowered us to live.

Rooted and Grounded With the Love of Christ

If we don’t know how to love it’s just like saying we don’t know God. Our world with its shallow and selfish view of love, has turned these words around and contaminated our understanding of love. Real love is like God, who is holy, just and perfect. If we truly know God, we will love as He does.

Perseverance: The Test of True Faith

Trials, temptations, and afflictions bring to life in us what we really believe. It’s at those hopeless times in our life that our faith in Christ will shine or the true desires of our heart will emerge.

Paul was discouraged because he had to leave his work in Thessolonica so suddenly. He feared those who received the message would fall away from the faith because they suffered such great persecution. However, what he found is that their faith was strong and active and growing.

The Gospel Love Response

The Scriptures state that as our understanding of God’s miraculous grace unfolds in our hearts and minds a Greater/Deeper Spiritual love for the Savior will take hold of our hearts. That directing and controlling love will guide us into our love response to the Gospel. We serve God because of the magnificence of who he is and what he has done, not out of guilty obligation.

One Step Closer to God

People are seeking real life. They’re looking for happiness. David found real life in his closeness with God. But Psalm 16 is actually about Jesus; The One Who loved God more than anything, the One Who was blessed in life by God, and the One Who secured real life.
